I’m a business director, tech and fitness enthusiast.
When I am not traveling or being busy at work, I enjoy doing keep-fit activities or pursuing my blogging projects and electronic dance music production.
I have traveled to about 40 countries and in addition to my home country Finland, I have lived in United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Thinking like an athlete
I used to be professional athlete in track and field (100m and 200m) until I was at the age of 21. I have been thinking my job with a similar mindset as my career in athletics: train (skills and fitness), nutrition and rest need to be in good balance.
At times you need to work hard, but you need to remember to recover and take lighter working periods as well.
From international trainee to global career
I started my career in a global elevator and escalator company, KONE Corporation over 15 years ago. I joined KONE via international trainee program in the UK.
After graduating from technical university of Tampere (masters degree in industrial engineering and management), I continued working in KONE as part of team developing and implementing CRM processes and tool (Salesforce.com) to 45 countries.
International assignment and birth of my daughters and a side hobby
My next assignment was in Hong Kong in 2007 where I worked for 3 years in service business sales development role. My twin daughters were also born in Hong Kong, so it was hectic time both at home and work.
During my time in Hong Kong, I also started a side hobby. I’ve always been very interested in technology and computers. I had been using home theater computers connected to TVs already tens years, so I thought this would be a good topic to write online.
I thought different blog name alternatives and eventually decided that my site should be called “Media Experience” as I though it described well that in order to enjoy your media, you need to build a complete media experience by combining hardware and software. Over the past 10 years, my Media Experience blog has received over 10 million visitors.
6 years back in Finland
After working three years in Hong Kong, I returned to Finland and joined frontline operations as Quality and Change Manager.
After couple of years, I joined global supply operations where I worked in two roles for the next 4 years. I was responsible over 200 people organizations in supply line located in China, United States, Italy and Finland.
Back to Asia
Then, I was fortunate to be relocated again to Asia. This time to Singapore where I worked for 4 years as an New Equipment Business Area Director for Asia Pacific.
I was responsible for 8 country organizations from Australia and New Zealand to South East Asia and India. I really enjoyed meeting all different people from different cultures during my numerous business trips.
Moving back to Finland and turbulent times
Turning 40 years old was a turbulent time for me in many ways. I moved back from Singapore to Finland. I changed to a new role as a Delivery Operations Director for Central and North Europe. Covid-19 pandemic introduced many restrictions to daily life. I got divorced.
In addition to my work and my children, I rekindled with my old passion in fitness and well-being. Sure, I had been doing physical activity quite a lot over the years, but I did not take as good care of my nutrition, biomechanics and mental energy as I should have.
According to Hintsa Performance, your individual performance is constructed of six components: your core, general health, physical activity, nutrition, sleep & recovery, biomechanics and mental energy.
It took a lot of trial and error to find what works for me. After finding “the right recipe” for me by finding a better balance of all parts in this above mentioned performance weel, I started to notice significant improvements in my overall performance and happiness.
Starting a new chapter in life
Story continues in an exciting ways and I have more recently got married, I have a young baby as a third child and I have gotten more responsibility at work with my new exciting role. More on that later.
